2 x 18L Bokashi Compost Bins - Continuous Indoor Food Waste Recycling This 18L Double Bokashi Bin system includes two 18 litre airtight compost buckets, allowing continuous indoor kitchen composting. While one bin ferments, the second can be filled, creating an efficient rotation system for homes and flats. What Is Bokashi Composting? Bokashi is a Japanese term meaning fermented organic matter. Unlike traditional composting, Bokashi uses beneficial microorganisms to ferment food waste inside an airtight container. This anaerobic process helps minimise odours and allows a wide range of food waste to be processed. How To Use Add cooked or uncooked food scraps to the bucket. Sprinkle Bokashi bran over each layer. Bran sold separately. Press down firmly to remove air pockets. Keep the lid tightly sealed at all times. Drain liquid every few days using the tap. When full, leave sealed for 2 to 3 weeks to complete fermentation. Installation and Setup Fit the taps securely into the base of each bucket. Insert the inner separation trays. Place a sheet of newspaper over each tray. Add a base layer of Bokashi bran and begin composting.
