Boat owners in particular will appreciate the lack of castors on the unit, so it will not roll around on board. Why Meaco is revolutionaryIt has been standard within the industry for desiccant dehumidifiers to run their fan continuously, regardless of the relative humidity. They do this so that they can react to rises in relative humidity and start to dry the air again. This, however, provides a level of accurate dehumidification that is over-kill for domestic applications. The alternative provided by most compressor dehumidifiers is for the dehumidifier to turn off when the relative humidity target is reached. This saves energy but does mean that the dehumidifier potentially misses increases in relative humidity and could allow organic materials in the home to absorb the excess moisture and mould to grow. The Meaco DD8L provides the best possible solution to this problem. When the target relative humidity is reached, the unit runs its fan for five minutes to check that all is OK and then it turns itself off to save energy. Thirty minutes later the fan turns back on and samples the air again for five more minutes. If the relative humidity has increased above the target, it starts dehumidifying again: if the relative humidity is OK it goes back to sleep again for another 30 minutes. In a well-sealed home this will mean that the fan will run for just 10 minutes an hour instead of 60, using just 1/6th of the power of other desiccant dehumidifiers. This gives you the perfect balance between protecting your environment and keeping costs to a minimum.Well suited to: Environment where quiet and compactness is prioritized - very quiet in operation, option of a quiet fan speed regardless of selected relative humidity; Cold spaces (below 15C) - extract water faster and produce more heat ; Boats or other moving areas - lack of castors ensure ultimate stability; Houses up to 5 bedrooms large; Practical homes - capable of drying clothes with laundry mode, turning off independently when internal bucket is full and avoiding spills with splash proof cover for the aforementioned, as well as improving air quality with ionizing silver and anti-bacterial air filters important for anyone who suffers from allergies; So what is the difference between the 3 Meaco DD8L Models?Meaco DD8L Junior - A high performance 8 ltr Dessicant DehumidifierMeaco DD8L - As above but with Ioniser for air cleasing and killing mould sporesMeaco DD8L Zambezi - As above but with sophisticated digital display controller, High performance Laundry mode and improved performance IoniserTechnical overview Compressor or Desiccant?DesiccantExtraction Rate at 20C and 60%rh7.5 litres per dayWeight6.4kgsDimensions (HWD)500 x 351 x 188mmNoise Level39 / 43 / 48 dB(A) depending on running modePower Supply220-240V, 50HzPower Consumption at 20C and 60%rh330WApproximate Electricity Cost21.5c / hour based on 43c / kWh on fan speed 1 43c / hour based on 43c / kWh on fan speed 2 and laundry modeOperating Temperatures1C - 40CFilter TypeAnti-bacterial dust filterTank Size2 litresVariable HumidistatBetween 40%rh and 60%rhMaximum Air Flow80 / 100 / 115m³/hour depending on fan speedDigital DisplayNoAutomatic LourveNo (manual)Fan Speeds3Meaco Control LogicYesLaundry ModeYesAuto RestartYesChild LockNoOn TimerNoOff TimerYes - between 1 and 8 hoursIoniserYes (can be switched on & off)Ozone Rating0.022ppmContinuous Drainage OptionYes - hose not includedHose Dimensions (for continuous drainage)8 x 11mm
