The typical aircraft was powered by an arrangement of four wing-mounted Rolls-Royce Merlin piston engines. Early production Lancaster B.Is were outfitted with a ventral gun turret position. 32 Aircraft were adapted to take first the super-heavy Grand Slam bombs. Up-rated engines with paddle-bladed propellers gave more power, and the removal of gun turrets reduced weight and gave smoother lines. For the Grand Slam bombs, the bomb bay doors were removed completely and the area faired over, the mid-upper turret was removed and also the nose turret. Paints and glue are required to complete this model kit. Not included. Available separately.
