Remember the thrill of your first pastis in that wonderful bistro in the rambling rue just off le Place du Marché? The first time you spoke French? Perhaps your first love was with you. And remember the bliss of that first bottle of vin rouge? Barefoot in that Starry Starry Night? The trance-like pleasure of … being in France. These beautifully blended wines will bring back all of those memories! Les Boules wines have been sourced from vineyard sites in the South West of France, and blended and bottled for Hallgarten Druitt in Macon. We are looking for a very French type of wine, with fresh fruit and good acidity. 2021 was an extremely challenging vintage across France. After a warm start to the spring, which brought the vines along, a sudden severe frost hit vineyards during the second week in April, damaging the buds and significantly reducing yields throughout the Languedoc Roussillon region. Some areas were also hit by overnight black frost which further compounded the loss of crop. While the production was significantly reduced across the region, the remaining fruit produced juice of excellent quality. The fruit is sourced from carefully selected vineyards in the Pays d’Oc. The Pays d’Oc area has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters, with the majority of rainfall occurring during the spring and autumn. Dry, continental winds from the north west bring cooling influences to the vineyards, which help to reduce disease pressure. This wind is interspersed with warm winds from the south, which bring moisture to the vines. Each vineyard site has its own terroir characteristics which add subtle complexity to the resulting wine. Tasting Notes A beautifully balanced wine, this has the refreshing zing of good Beaujolais allied to the chunkiness of a southern French blend. Region France
