The Marengo winery has been located in Piedmont, in the Barolo wine district, since its founding in 1899. Today, the company is managed by Marco Marengo, who tends the estate's 7 hectares of vineyards with his wife. Marco has introduced a more modern approach to production, including the use of barriques, but maintains a traditionalist philosophy focused on the pure expression of terroir. The Nebbiolo grapes come from a plot located in the Bricco delle Viole Cru, characterized by soils rich in clay and limestone. After harvesting and fermenting at a controlled temperature in steel tanks, the wine ages in oak barrels for two years before bottling. In the glass, the wine reveals a brilliant garnet-red color. Its aromatic profile is broad and complex, with initial floral notes typical of Nebbiolo, such as violet and rose, followed by fruity hints of plum and cherry on a spicy background. On the palate, it is generous, velvety, juicy, and smooth, with a seductive character and soft, balanced tannins. It is a harmonious and elegant wine, capable of aging well for a couple of decades, but ready to be enjoyed now on its own or with aged cheeses or red meat stews.
