Located in Woodinville, Washington, Betz Family is a renowned winery, founded by Bob and Cathy Betz in 1997, that specializes in premium wines made from Bordeaux blends and Rhône varietals. Pere de Famille is an exceptional red from Washington State, composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon with additions of Merlot and small amounts of Cabernet Franc. After vinification, the finished wine ages for approximately 20 months in oak (half of which is new) before being bottled and entering the market. In the glass, the wine displays a dense, dark color with purple hues. On the nose, it reveals a broad, bold, and layered aromatic profile, with initial notes of dark fruits such as cassis, blackcurrant, plum, and blackberry, interspersed with hints of tobacco, aromatic herbs, and graphite, and followed by touches of dried flowers, spices, and incense. On the palate, it is balanced, linear, and concentrated. It has a medium to full body and a seductive character. It is powerful and elegant at the same time, with fine, well-integrated tannins and a long, persistent finish that echoes the notes perceived on the nose. It pairs perfectly with beef brisket or wild boar goulash.
