Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded in 2004 by the two oenologists Amedeo De Luca and Antonio Patricelli, Collefrisio is a renowned Abruzzo winery located in the province of Chieti. Its vineyards cover over 50 hectares and enjoy an ideal microclimate, thanks to the protection of the Majella mountain and the sea breezes from the Costa dei Trabocchi. The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes are sourced from the company's vineyards located on soils rich in clay and limestone. After manual harvesting, fermentation, and a period of maceration on the skins, the finished wine rests partly in wood and partly in steel, to ensure a harmonious development. Collefrisio Vignaquadra Montepulciano d'Abruzzo has a bright ruby red color with some purple reflections. On the nose, it reveals a fresh and fragrant aromatic profile with notes of black cherry and berries, followed by light spicy hints. On the palate, it is round and lively. It has a good structure and a soft consistency. It is fruity with smooth tannins and a long and juicy finish. It is excellent with meatballs in sauce, Diavola chicken, and with pasta and chickpeas.
