Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in Castagneto Carducci, I Greppi winery was founded in 2001 by the Cancellieri and Landini families and then purchased in 2017 by Neil McMahon, an Irish geologist and entrepreneur. The estate extends over approximately 26 hectares of vineyards distributed in the Bolgheri DOC denomination, near the Greppi Cupi lakes, whose presence has a beneficial effect on the microclimate. Bolgheri Superiore Greppicaia is a blend of Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon carefully selected and harvested from vineyards characterized by sandy soils rich in iron with deep clay. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in steel and the individual varieties refine separately for 18 months in French oak barrels before blending and resting for another 6 months in the bottle. This fascinating SuperTuscan has an intense ruby color and a broad and elegant aromatic profile with notes of small ripe fruits, Mediterranean herbs, incense, and tobacco, on a background of light spicy hints. On the palate, it is full-bodied and soft, rich and mature with firm and well-integrated tannins. The finish is long, fruity, and harmonious. It is a wine that reveals an excellent aging potential but can already be enjoyed now paired with red meats and pasta with game sauces.
