Le Chiuse Brunello di Montalcino 2018

Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 20 years. Decant for up to 2 hours before serving. This is a majestic and complex Brunello with a deep ruby colour, the flagship wine of Le Chiuse’s range. Once it opens up, the nose is expressive and intense, offering aromas of red cherry, plum, violet, and deeply earthy undertones of tobacco and leather. The Sangiovese grapes were sourced from three vineyards, growing on rich soils with streaks of clay. Le Chiuse is a prestigious winery located in the scenic heart of Montalcino, Tuscany. The estate has a history dating back to the 18th century and is renowned for its traditional winemaking practices, as well for (once upon a time) creating the Sangiovese clone that led to the first Brunello di Montalcino. The vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soils, which contribute to the distinctive character and elegance of their Brunello wines. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-structured, with flavors of cassis, black cherry, and savoury, wintery spices, supported by grippy tannins and vivacious acidity. The Sangiovese spent 3 years ageing in Slavonian oak before bottling. The finish is long and sophisticated, with nuanced notes of rosemary, cinnamon, and cocoa. This Brunello di Montalcino pairs wonderfully with rich meat dishes, such as braised beef, roast lamb, or game.
