Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Bodegas Frontonio is a Spanish winery in the province of Zaragoza, established in 2008 when Fernando Mora began producing wine at home. Today, the company, which has quickly achieved great critical and commercial success, produces wines from a series of vineyards (some with old Garnacha vines) in an artisanal way, committed to recovering the local winemaking tradition. The wines are aged in caves dating back to the end of the 18th century. The Garnacha and Macabeo grapes come from a vineyard located at about 640 meters above sea level. The vines, about 80 years old, are grown as bush vines without irrigation and are rooted in slate and quartzite soils. After fermentation, the finished wine rests in foudres for 14 months. Produced in small quantities, like all the wines of the winery, Las Alas de Frontonio is a mature and intense red that reveals a broad and fragrant aromatic profile with notes of kumquat, cherry, Mediterranean herbs and flowers, and an undertone of flint. On the palate, it is round and expressive, concentrated and rich. It has soft and velvety tannins, and a marked acidic streak that gives freshness. The finish is long and fruity. It is a wine that demonstrates excellent aging potential but can already be enjoyed with roast pork or lamb with herbs.
