Cellar for up to 20 years. Decant for 1 hour or more before serving. Chateau Poesia has been owned by the Garcin-Levêque family since 2014 who also count Clos l’Eglise and Haut Bergey amongst their prestigious holdings. Patrice Leveque takes care of the estate’s 13 hectares of vineyards while Helene Garcin manages the cellar. Poesia’s vineyards enjoy a prestigious setting on a high limestone plateau in Saint-Emilion. Soils here are rich in clay and limestone which favors the 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon plantings. The estate is blessed with many older vines, including some that are over 70 years old, which creates a house style with plenty of opulence and richness. In the winery the family uses small temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for fermentation followed by 18 months in French oak barrels. The result is an intense and charming Saint-Emilion with plenty of rich, silky fruit from the Merlot and a touch of power from the Cabernet Franc. Expect luscious ripe cassis, plum, and black cherries on the nose along with subtle notes of spice, vanilla, and cedar. The first sip reveals a firm full body and well-developed tannins which will help this bottle evolve beautifully in the cellar.
