Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant. The Sicilian winery Girolamo Russo is located on the slopes of the Etna volcano, on the northern side, and cultivates about 18 hectares of vineyards according to organic standards. The company, which has quickly achieved popularity thanks to its exceptional wines, has been led by Giuseppe Russo, Girolamo's son, since 2005. Etna Rosato by Girolamo Russo is a wine made from 100% Nerello Mascalese. The grapes come from the Cru San Lorenzo, from old vines located on the lower slope of the volcano, grown organically and worked by hand. After manual harvesting and spontaneous fermentation, the finished wine ages 6 months in steel to preserve its fragrant character and freshness. In the glass, Etna Rosato reveals a bright color with dusty rose tones and light orange reflections. Its aromatic profile is broad and lively with notes of small red fruits such as wild strawberries and raspberries, followed by aromas of pomegranate, dry lavender, and iodine hints. On the palate, it is intense, flavorful, and balanced with a strong mineral vein that continues into the long and refreshing finish. It makes a perfect pairing with fish soup, seafood linguine, or grilled giant prawns.
