Jean-Max Roger Sancerre La Grange Dimiere Rouge 2020

Enjoy now or cellar for a few more years. Decanting is optional, up to 30 minutes before serving. This is a Loire Valley Pinot Noir, with an intriguing nose that exudes the freshness of spring. Aromas of red cherry and crushed raspberry are immediately apparent, evolving into layers of strawberry with touches of melon and thyme forming as the wine breathes. This aromatic complexity hints towards a delightful and youthful tasting experience. The Roger family’s winemaking heritage dates back to the early 1600s in the village of Bué. Jean-Max Roger took over the family's remaining four hectares in the early 1970s and expanded the estate significantly. Today, the estate is organically certified and spans some of the finest appellations in the Loire. The family’s careful vineyard practices, such as single Guyot pruning and minimal chemical intervention, ensure the health of the vines and the utmost quality of the resulting wines. This red Sancerre wine exhibits high acidity and a medium body, with a crisp and light mouthfeel. Flavours of red hedgerow berries dance on the tongue, including sour cherry, strawberry, and raspberry, with undertones of crisp apple. Hints of liquorice and menthol add complexity and a slightly earthy finish rounds off the tasting experience with aplomb. This Pinot Noir is ideal for enjoying alone or pairing with tuna steak, soft cheese, or roasted poultry.
