Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. With its long tradition dating back to the 18th century, Domaine Bott-Geyl is an Alsatian winery passed down from father to son and now led by Jean-Christophe Bott, who has been managing the vineyards biodynamically since the early 2000s. Domaine Bott-Geyl makes white and sparkling wines from its approximately 14 hectares of vineyards that include 6 Grands Crus. The focus is on respecting nature and producing high-quality wines that best express the magnificent terroir of this picturesque region bordering Germany. The Gewürztraminer grapes are harvested by hand from a plot located in the municipality of Beblenheim. The vines are located on a gentle slope with a south/south-east exposure and benefit from a unique marly-limestone soil made up of conglomerates of calcareous pebbles and marls dating back to the Oligocene. In the glass, the wine reveals a deep yellow color with golden highlights and an intense and elegant aromatic profile with notes of ripe yellow fruit such as mirabelle plum and quince, followed by spicy hints and rose petals. On the palate, it is rich and generous, round and velvety. It has a well-balanced acidity and a long, fresh, and complex finish. It is the ideal wine for Thai and Indian spicy dishes and also works well with blue cheeses.
