Champagne A. Margaine Cuvee M Premier Cru

57

Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant before serving. This is a wine from the Margaine family’s perpetual reserve, crafted with grapes from between 2002 and 2018. It contains approximately 98% Chardonnay and 2% Pinot Noir from Premier Cru sites in Villers-Marmery, and opens with a tempting nose of dried apple, apricot, hazelnuts, and lemon oil. The Margaine family first began harvesting grapes in 1796, with the pioneer Louis Margaine. Now, a seventh generation unit of mother, father, and daughter create a beautiful selection of Champagne in the village of Villers-Marmery, in Montagne de Reims. It is a terroir perfectly suited to Chardonnay grapes, situated in the middle of a sea of Pinot Noir. Of the Margaine Champagne house’s entire range, the cuvee “M” stands apart. It has an incredibly rich and creamy texture, with some strikingly mature flavours, due to the use of reserve wines. Aged for 5 years before release, it offers delicious notes of dried orchard fruits, toasted nuts, and wildflowers, alongside subtle hints of coffee and spice. The fruits were processed in stainless steel, with partial malolactic fermentation. This is an ideal wine for pairing with creamy mushroom dishes, seafood, or soft cheese.
