Domaine Pierre Morey Monthelie 2022

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Coming from a family with a very long tradition of winemaking dating back to the 16th century, Pierre Morey founded his estate in 1971 in Meursault in one of the most prestigious areas of Burgundy. The company, run today by Pierre together with his daughter Anne, has been producing organic and biodynamic wines since the 1990s with grapes from approximately 10 hectares of vineyards spread across the municipalities of Meursault, Monthelie, Pommard, and Puligny-Montrachet. The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from a vineyard of just over one hectare, planted in 1965 on clayey-limestone and stony soils, and located around the village of Monthelie, in the heart of the denomination. After manual harvesting and vinification, the wine ages in oak barrels. Domaine Pierre Morey Monthelie is a refined and balanced wine. On the nose, it reveals a mature and broad aromatic profile with notes of dark berries and violet, spicy hints, and hints of licorice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and soft, fresh and balanced. It has ripe and well-integrated tannins and a long fruity finish. Excellent with grilled lamb fries or roast duck.
