Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant but best to open it an hour before service. Located in Barolo since the late 1970s, Luciano Sandrone is a prestigious family-run winery that owns approximately 27 hectares of vineyards that include some of the most renowned crus of the Langhe. The range of wines produced by Luciano Sandrone is based on the native Piedmontese vines Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Dolcetto, organically grown and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Barbera grapes are harvested in the Cascina Pe Mol vineyards in Monforte d'Alba, the Rocche di San Nicola and Ravera in Novello, and the Albarela in Barolo. Fermentation occurs spontaneously in steel vats and the finished wine rests first in 500-liter French oak barrels and then in the bottle. Luciano Sandrone's Barbera d'Alba has an intense and brilliant ruby color with light purple hues. On the nose, it reveals a lively and fragrant aromatic profile with aromas of raspberry, plum, and blueberry followed by delicate spicy and toasted notes. On the palate, it is soft, savory, and succulent with a strong refreshing acidic streak and a medium body. The finish is long, fruity, and balanced. It is excellent with pasta with ragu, aubergine parmigiana, and Portobello mushroom burgers.
