Drink it now or cellar for up to 30 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in the commune of Ampuis, in the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation in the northern Rhône, Domaine Burgaud extends over approximately 5 hectares of vines, with an average age of around 50 years, spread over terraces where manual work is a must. The estate, now managed by Pierre Burgaud, son of founder Bernard, has a philosophy based on the full expression of the terroir and the singularity of each vintage, without limiting to only the best harvests but paying the same attention to all production. Bernard Burgaud's Cote Rotie is the quintessential Syrah of the Rhône Valley. After manual harvesting and traditional vinification, the wine rests for 14 months in oak (20% new). The result is a unique, captivating, and velvety wine. On the nose, it reveals a broad and elegant aromatic profile with notes of violet, black forest fruits, pepper, and black olives. On the palate, it is characterful, deep, and balanced with silky tannins and a long harmonious, and slightly spicy finish. It is a wine that can stay in the cellar for a couple of decades but is already enjoyable now with a roast lamb shoulder or a venison carpaccio.
