Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant but best to open it an hour before service. Founded by Guillaume Charvin in 1851, Domaine Charvin is a renowned wine estate in the southern Rhône Valley, run by the Charvin family for 6 generations. The vineyards, cultivated according to organic methods, are located in the coolest area of the appellation, north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The estate produces wines acclaimed by critics and the public for their ability to express with elegance and power the terroir of the region. Domaine Charvin's Côtes-du-Rhône is a blend of mostly Grenache, with additions of Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan. The winemaking operations are carried out with the same care and attention as Chateauneuf du Pape. Fermentation occurs with whole bunches and the finished wine rests for almost a year and a half in vats before bottling. The wine reveals a bright and clear color with intense ruby tones. Its aromatic profile is fresh and broad with typical notes of red fruit, sweet spices, and floral scents. On the palate, it is soft and well structured, fleshy, and with good concentration. It is elegant and balanced with velvety tannins and a good refreshing acidity. It is excellent with rabbit or pheasant and with liver pâtés.
