Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Coming from a family of vinegrowers, Jean-Marc Burgaud founded his winery in the Morgon Cru in Beaujolais in 1989. Over the years, Jean-Marc has acquired various plots, including those in the Cote du Py, and today the vineyards extend over a total of just under 18 hectares. The first harvest of the Javernières cuvée dates back to 2007. The grapes come from the homonymous plot located at the foot of the Cote du Py hill, where the soils are characterized by a high presence of clay and iron oxide that guarantee the production of more structured and long-lived wines, in the Burgundian style. The vinification takes place with whole bunches and maceration follows for 15 days, as in the Beaujolais tradition. The wine then rests for 12 months in used oak barrels, to refine its tannins and enhance its aging potential. Morgon Cote du Py Javernieres is a powerful and muscular red, characterized by an intense color with dark red tones. On the nose, it reveals a complex and fragrant aromatic profile with notes of ripe red fruits and delicate spices, followed by hints of undergrowth. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied with firm and well-integrated tannins and a long, gently spicy finish. Try it with veal escalopes with mushrooms, chicken liver pâté, and pork terrines.
