Jean-Marc Burgaud Morgon Cote du Py James 2022

Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in Villié-Morgon, in the heart of the Morgon Cru of Beaujolais, Domaine Jean-Marc Burgaud was founded in 1989 and today covers around 18 hectares of vineyards. The estate, which owns some of the most prestigious plots in the appellation, farms according to organic principles (without certification). The cuvée Cote du Py James is one of Morgon's most iconic wines, produced only in the best years and always in limited quantities. The Gamay grapes are selected and hand-picked from parcels located in the highest part of the Côte du Py, on a small plot near La Croix. In the glass, the wine reveals a deep red color with purple highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and complex with notes of dark fruits, sweet spices, dried flowers, and some hints of licorice and black pepper. On the palate, it is dense, rich and concentrated. It has young but well-integrated tannins that promise excellent aging potential. It is a succulent and balanced wine, with a fruity and fresh finish that lingers for a long time. Try it with roast pork belly, or with grilled Toulouse sausage.
