Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Since creating his winery in 1989, Jean-Marc Burgaud has demonstrated his skills and his knowledge of the Morgon terroir. Three years later, he acquired the Cote du Py vineyards, the jewel in the crown of his estate. The company now has around 18 hectares of vineyards located in the Morgon appellation, Beaujolais, and Régnié. Jean-Marc Burgaud’s Morgon Côte du Py is made with Gamay grapes hand-picked from scattered plots on the prestigious Cote de Py hill. Here, the vines enjoy southern exposure and a unique soil rich in blue stones composed of schist, iron oxide, and manganese. These peculiar conditions and the appellation's typical climate guarantee the production of structured and complex wines with defined tannins and a fruity character. In the glass, the wine reveals a bright color with intense ruby tones. Its aromatic profile is complex and broad with notes of blueberry and pomegranate, raspberry and cherry, and then floral hints of violet and peony and iodine nuances. On the palate, it is powerful and concentrated. It has a medium body and fine tannins. It is energetic and lively, fresh and juicy. The finish is long, fruity, and refreshing. In food pairings, it is a versatile wine. It pairs well with rich vegetarian recipes, pork, meatballs in tomato sauce, and lasagna.
