Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located between the towns of Tournon and Saint-Péray, in the heart of the northern Rhone Valley, Domaine Alain Voge was born from an old family business dedicated to mixed farming and nursery, taken over by Alain himself in 1958. Since then, Alain has replanted vineyards in some abandoned areas and focused his work on the production of high-quality Cornas wines, receiving critical and public acclaim over time. Since 2016, the entire estate has been certified organic and biodynamic. The Syrah grapes for Cornas Les Chailles come from 40-year-old vineyard plots located on granite terraces on the edge of a limestone hill. After vinification, the wine rests for 18 months in used barrels. In the glass, the wine reveals a deep, intense color with purple highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and complex with fragrant notes of blackberries and ripe dark fruits, violets, and dried herbs followed by the peppery hints typical of Syrah. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied with an extraordinary concentration of fruit and velvety tannins. It is powerful and elegant with a juicy and persistent finish. For the perfect food and wine pairing experience, try it with venison stew.
