Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Established in 2006, the young Badagoni winery is one of the most renowned Georgian wineries. The company is based in the village of Zemo Khodashen, in the ancient wine region of Kakheti, but the company owns vineyards in all microzones and produces a wide range of premium wines (sparkling, red, white, and rosé, as well as the Georgian chacha distillate). Their wines, made only from indigenous grape varieties, are exported all over the world. Badagoni also owns the ancient Alaverdi monastery where it produces its acclaimed Qvevri wines. Badagoni Khvanchkara is a semi-sweet red wine made from a blend of the indigenous Aleksandrouli & Mujuretuli grapes, grown and harvested late from the company vineyards in the Khvanchkara microzone. This delicate and elegant wine reveals a bright color with light rubytones and a rich and inebriating aromatic profile characterized by notes of raspberries and cherries and small ripe red fruits. On the palate, it is lively and fruity, juicy and soft, with a very pleasant concentration of red fruits and a smooth texture. It is light and lean, with a refreshing and persistent finish. With its gentle natural sweetness, it is the ideal wine to finish the meal, especially if paired with a blueberry cheesecake or a cherry pie.
