Warwick The Blue Lady 2020

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Situated in the Stellenbosch wine region of South Africa, in the valley between Simonsberg Kanonkop and Klapmutskop, Warwick Estate was an old 18th-century farmhouse purchased in 1964 by Stan Ratcliffe. Here Stan began planting Cabernet Sauvignon vines and in the 70s he started his wine production with his wife Norma. The company is now run by Norma's son who, after studying enology in Australia, has introduced a series of innovations to maximize the potential of the Warwick terroir and produce high-quality wines. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are hand-picked from three parcels of the estate’s vineyards. After vinification and a period of skin maceration, the finished wine rests in partly new and partly used French oak barrels. Warwick The Blue Lady is a powerful red wine with an intense and complex aromatic profile that reveals notes of dark fruit and tobacco, coffee and cocoa, and some spicy nuances. On the palate, it is concentrated, fruity and well balanced. It has a full body and soft tannins. The finish is long, persistent, and juicy. It’s certainly a wine for red meat. Try it with a juicy grilled steak or beef Wellington.
