Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for at least one hour. Cantina Nervi, founded by Guido Ferretti in 1906, is the oldest and one of the most prestigious in the Gattinara wine production area. After being owned by the Astrup family for a few years in the 2000s, in 2018, the company with its 24 hectares distributed between the 4 vineyards Molsino, Valferana, Garavoglie, and Casacce, was acquired by Roberto Conterno. In this area of Alto Piemonte, Nebbiolo enjoys exceptional soil and climate conditions with soils rich in volcanic porphyry and a unique, dry, and cool climate thanks to the influence and protection of Monte Rosa. The Nebbiolo grapes are selected from the Molsino vineyard, a true natural amphitheater, located between 340 and 425 meters above sea level at the foot of the Alps, on soils of mixed fine sand. After fermentation in concrete tanks, the finished wine rests in oak barrels for at least 4 years. Gattinara DOCG Vigna Molsino is an elegant wine with great character, with a ruby color tending towards garnet. Its aromatic profile is intense and fragrant with notes of red fruits and alpine herbs, sweet spices, and juniper. On the palate, it is round and juicy, mineral and firm, with soft tannins and a pleasant vein of freshness on the finish. It is a wine capable of aging splendidly, but can already be enjoyed paired with game meat such as wild boar or venison.
