Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Established in 1994 by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband, Cyril de Bournet, Clos Apalta Casa Lapostolle is one of Chile's most celebrated estates, located in the magnificent Colchagua Valley. Since 2013, the company, which owns over 370 hectares of vineyards in the Casablanca, Cachapoal, and Colchagua wine areas, has been in the hands of the seventh representative of the Lapostolle dynasty, and production is led by the famous consultant Michel Rolland. The winery produces wines of exceptional quality thanks to an extremely favorable microclimate and terroir, and an authentic savoir-faire. Clos Apalta is the result of a blend mainly based on Carmenere, with the addition of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The grapes come from a 60-hectare vineyard with some vines over eighty years old, planted on an exceptional terroir. The wine has a dark ruby red color, with purple shades. The aromatic profile is intense and expressive with aromas of spices, red fruit, ripe plums, dried figs, and some notes of clover and cedar. On the palate, the wine is concentrated and harmonious with elegant tannins and a perfect balance between alcohol and freshness. It is a round and generous wine with a persistent finish. Try it with grilled red meat or with Chili con Carne.
