Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. A small family winery located in Monthelie, the renowned Domaine Changarnier has a long history dating back to the 18h century and was taken over by brothers Claude and Antoine in 2004. Today, the estate extends over approximately 5 hectares of organically farmed vineyards spread across some of the most prestigious appellations in Burgundy, such as Pommard, Meursault, Auxey-Duresse, and of course Monthelie. Over the years, Domaine Changarnier wines have universally earned an excellent reputation for their high quality. Pinot Noir grapes are selected and harvested by hand from two plots located in the Monthelie appellation. Here the 40-year-old vines enjoy an eastern exposure and deep clay-limestone soils. Monthelie Rouge from Domaine Changarnier is a fruity and youthful wine, which well reflects the elegance of Pinot Noir and the terroir of the region. On the nose, the wine reveals a broad and fragrant bouquet with notes of fresh red fruits and some floral and spicy hints. On the palate, it is lively and balanced, soft and juicy with velvety tannins and a long and slightly spicy finish. Pair it with Coq au Vin, quail, or roast duck leg.
