Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located on the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, the legendary Château de Meursault boasts a thousand-year history, during which it has changed owners several times. Today, the estate, which extends over 65 hectares of organically cultivated vineyards, belongs to the Halley family. Below the castle, the ancient cellars date back to the 12th century and have recently been renovated. The Chardonnay grapes for the Meursault du Chateau Clos des Grands Charrons Monopole come from vineyards located on hard Jurassic limestone soils and enjoy an east / south-east exposure. After manual harvesting and fermentation in barrels, the finished wine is aged 15-18 months on the lees. This top-class Meursault is certainly one of the most iconic whites of the estate. In the glass, it reveals a clear and bright color with golden reflections and a broad and complex aromatic profile with notes of white fruits and wildflowers, buttery and smoky hints. On the palate, it is round and generous, ample and fresh, with a well-balanced acidity and a long fruity finish. It is a very versatile wine in food pairings: it is excellent with salmon, roasted guinea fowl, or tagliolini with truffles.
