Enjoy it now, or cellar for 10 years or more. No need to decant before serving. The Special Club Blanc de Blancs opens with a beautiful bouquet of orchard fruits and white flowers, with a twist of lemon and a notable mineral undercurrent. It is crafted from 100% Chardonnay grown around the village of Villers-Marmery. The “Special Club” tag denotes that this was only crafted from the finest grapes, harvested from the Premier Cru sites of Ruelles, Alouettes, and Montmedy. The Champagne A. Margaine estate is situated in Villers-Marmery, an oasis of Chardonnay amidst fields of Pinot Noir. It is inhabited by seventh-generation winemakers, the Margaine family, who create a stunning selection of Champagne. The family can follow their winemaking history back to 1796, when Louis Margaine first began farming vines. This Champagne brings a moussey texture to the palate, which is balanced out by a striking elegance and sharp acidity. In the finish, incisive citrus flavours shine through. Look for notes of apple, pear, and salty minerality on the mid-palate. The wine spent 6 years ageing before release, and was fermented in 30% oak. There was no malolactic fermentation during the process, allowing the pure nature of the grapes to come through. Consider pairing it with oysters, sushi, or any big occasion.
