Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Domaine E. Guigal is a family-run winery founded in Ampuis in the Rhone Valley in 1946. Today, the company, which has vineyards in the most prestigious areas of the region such as Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, and Saint-Joseph, is led by Marcel Guigal and his son Philippe, an oenologist. Their wines are widely regarded by the public and critics for their excellent elegance and aging potential. Cote Rotie Brune et Blonde is a classic blend of Syrah with small additions of the white variety Viognier. The grapes are selected and harvested from plots located on steep terraces in Côte-Blonde (on schistose and silico-calcareous soils) and Côte-Brune (on soils rich in iron oxides). After vinification in steel tanks, the finished wine is aged in oak barrels (50% new) for at least 3 years. This elegant Cote Rotie reveals a brilliant color with dark ruby tones and an expressive and fragrant aromatic profile with notes of ripe red berries and blackberries, spices, and toasted notes. On the palate, it is rich and intense with a pleasant fruit concentration and velvety tannins. It has a light refreshing acidity that gives balance and a long and pleasantly spicy finish. It is excellent with pigeon or roast duck and game stews.
