Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Pierre Amadieu is a historic winery in the Gigondas wine region that has been producing wine since 1929. The estate, which owns approximately 137 hectares of vineyards, is also the largest in the appellation. Here, the vines enjoy an average altitude of 400 meters and a North-North-West orientation, conditions that favor the production of fine wines with excellent aging potential. This Gigondas is an elegant blend of a majority of Grenache with about a fifth of Syrah. The grapes are harvested by hand from vineyards of about 45 years located at about 300 m above sea level and planted on soils composed of Cretaceous limestone and marl. After vinification, the finished wine rests for 12 months in oak barrels and vats. In the glass, the wine reveals a clear and brilliant color with dark ruby tones and a broad and ripe aromatic profile with fruity notes and aromas of Mediterranean herbs, and then sweet spices and black pepper. On the palate, it is round, fresh and soft. It has powerful and well-integrated tannins and a pleasant acidity that refreshes the palate and provides balance. The finish is persistent and slightly spicy. It is a wine capable of aging well, but can be enjoyed now with roast pork or grilled lamb chops.
