Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in Zemo Khodasheni village, Kakheti region, Badagon is a highly regarded winery, established in 2006, that produces award-winning wines. The grapes are grown in the over 400 hectares of vineyards spread across the most renowned wine-growing microzones of the region. Badagoni owns two wineries and collaborates with the ancient Alaverdi Monastery. Probably the most popular Georgian variety, Saperavi is a grape of great personality, especially loved by Badagoni winemaker Donato Lanati. For this wine, after manual harvesting of the grapes and vinification, the aging takes place for 3 years in oak barrels. Badagoni Saperavi Reserve is a wine of great elegance with a complex and fragrant aromatic profile. The nose reveals intense aromas of plum, ripe dark fruit, and dried grapes, followed by notes of spice and violet and some earthiness on the finish. On the palate it is generous, rounded, but also juicy and concentrated. It has a medium body, soft and well-integrated tannins, and a pleasant acidity that refreshes and accompanies the long finish. So far, it has aged beautifully, but can be left in the cellar a while longer. It is a wine to sip on its own or pair with mature cheeses.
