Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Badagoni is a leading Georgian winery founded in 2006 in the village of Zemo Khodasheni. Its production ranges from sparkling wines to traditional qvevri ones, and is supervised by the famous winemaker Donato Lanati. The company's vineyards extend over 400 hectares of vineyards where cultivation focuses on indigenous grape varieties to produce premium wines that are pure expression of the winemaking potential of this amazing country with thousand-year-old viticultural traditions. Badagoni Saperavi Qvevri is a wine with a strong and refined character produced with the traditional method of terracotta amphorae, in the historic cellar of the Alaverdi monastery dating back to the 11th century and restored in 2005. In the glass, the wine reveals an intense and clear color with dark ruby tones and a broad and fascinating aromatic profile with fragrant notes of dried red fruits, cherry, cassis, and blueberry, as well as a delicately spicy background. On the palate, it is velvety, round, and well-balanced with a pleasant acidity, smooth tannins, and a medium body. The finish, long and lingering, recalls a subtle salinity. It is the ideal wine to pair with pulled pork, or with hearty meat stews.
