Drink it now or cellar for up to 35 years. It is recommended to decant it for at least an hour. Located in the Barossa Valley, Standish is a renowned South Australian winery founded in 1999 by Dan Standish, a winemaker with international experience and a long family history of winemaking. The company produces some of the most prestigious and acclaimed Australian wines in the world, from grapes sourced in the best terroirs of South Australia. Lamella is one of the Eden Valley’s most iconic Shiraz wines. The grapes are hand-picked from the Angas family’s Hutton Vale Farm vineyard, planted in the early 1960s with cuttings coming from the prestigious Mt Edelstone vineyard. Fermentation occurs spontaneously using whole clusters and indigenous yeasts. The finished wine is then aged in barrels. The wine has a deep, dense red-purple color and a powerful, broad aromatic profile with notes of cherry and plum, blackberry, and other ripe dark fruit, followed by hints of tea leaves, olives, and baking spices. On the palate, it is big and elegant, rich, deep, and concentrated. The tannins are perfectly integrated and smooth. The finish is long, warm, and balanced. It is a characterful wine with an impressive aging potential. Leave it in the cellar for a few decades or, if you can’t resist, try it now with grilled red meat or herb-roasted lamb.
