Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano 2020

54

Cellar for 25 years or more. Decant for 2 hours or more before serving. This Riserva is made from 100% Nebbiolo, from the Montestefano vineyard in Piedmont. Due to its powerful character, it is sometimes called the “Barolo of Barbaresco”, exhibiting a great nose of refined minerals, red and black fruits, violet, and baking spice. Produttori del Barbaresco is a cooperative winery, formed by 19 grape growers and a parish priest, Don Fiorino Marengo, in 1958. Don Fiorino’s home served as the first cellar for the producers, before the construction of the current cellar at the foot of Barbaresco tower. The winery emphasises purity, unity, and native grapes, strictly using Nebbiolo to create a beautiful range of Barbaresco wine. Montestefano is full-bodied and absorbing on the palate, with strong notes of cherry jam, blackberry, raspberry, and dried herbs. The vineyard resides at 270 metres above sea level, on calcareous limestone soils. In the finish, look for striking notes of liquorice and mint. It has a big tannic structure that will soften with ageing in a cellar. The wine was aged before release, for a minimum of 30 months in oak barrels. Enjoy it alongside gamey meats, mature cheese, or an earthy risotto dish.
