Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. The Mascot is an informal wine project started by some members of the Harlan family, led by Will Harlan, son of Bill, founder of the iconic Harlan Estate, in Napa Valley. The idea is to produce easier-to-approach California Cabernets, using young vines from the three family estates (Harlan Estate, BOND, and Promontory). The results have achieved great success with the public and critics. The Mascot is a wine that celebrates the unique character of Cabernet Sauvignon and the extraordinary potential of California's terroirs. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are selected and hand-picked based on the perfect degree of ripeness from recently replanted hillside plots of the three estates, with vines aged between 5 and 12 years. The Mascot is a rich and seductive wine with a deep color with dark red tones. On the nose, it reveals a complex and exuberant aromatic profile with lively fruit notes, followed by intoxicating floral aromas and hints of coffee on the finish. On the palate, it is muscular, powerful and full-bodied. It has a soft, velvety texture, well-integrated tannins, and an intense fruit concentration that returns on the long, lingering finish. This is a wine that can develop well in a few years but is also ready to drink now. Pair it with grilled red meat.
