Dropworks Spiced Drop Rum is made without any added spices? Damn right! A world first! Bold flavours are created with the finest raw ingredients, fermented, distilled and flash aged at the DropWorks Rum Distillery.. Notes of spiced apple pie including ripe red apples, honeycomb and ginger, with a subtly sweet finish.. The Dropworks team wanted to prove that rum has all the flavour you need naturally, without having to add “spices”! They ferment raw molasses with their wild yeast strain, before distilling on their 8 plate column. This brings to life wonderful esters with wild yet crisp flavours that form the base for Spice Drop.. The rum is then “flash aged” by resting it with heavily charred wood chips. American oak chips add a sweet vanilla/coconut note and French oak chips imparts a toasted pecan and Winter spice aroma.. Raw material: Molasses. Fermentation: 4 different fermentations ranging from 4-7 days utilising 5 different yeast strains. Distillation: Double retort, Column. Maturation: Flash aged with a 3:1 ratio of heavily charred French:American oak for 24 hours. Additives: Sugar 10g p/l. Distilled by: Shaun “Yeast Beast” Smith. Blended: 4 different marks including 2 through the column and 2 through the double retort. This Drop is made at the DropWorks Rum Distillery in Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
