Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant before serving. “The Fields of Morjot” is an elegant white Burgundy, made from 100% Chardonnay. It opens up with scents of white-fleshed orchard fruits, citrus, white flowers, and chalky minerality. It comes from an excellent location in the region of Chassagne-Montrachet, capable of competing with some of the finest Premier Crus in terms of quality. Château de la Charrière is owned by Yves Girardin, a member of the esteemed winemaking family with a history dating back 13 generations. The family acquired the Château in the 1960s, and Yves took over in 2003, and set about building a new cellar, while also purchasing vineyards in Pommard and Chassagne-Montrachet, expanding his holdings to 21.5 hectares in all. This Chardonnay is concentrated and powerful in the mouth, with an excellent acidic structure and hints of oak. It balances flavours of chalky minerality with zesty white fruits, toasted nuts, and a long saline finish. It is remarkably full-bodied, perfect for those who love top-class buttery Chardonnays. Before bottling, it spent up to 12 months ageing in French oak barrels. Consider pairing it with roast chicken, sharp cheese, or white fish.
