Cellar for 20 years or more. Decant for up to an hour before serving. This Catalonian Carignan wine opens with a medley of red and blue berries, crushed sage, rosemary and minerals. It was harvested from the Arbossar vineyard in the Torroja del Priorat region of Spain. The Carignan vines here are over a century old and grow out of a steep, windy plot of land, just 1.6 hectares in size. Terroir al LĂmit is a meshing of minds - a joint project between the German vintner Dominik Huber and South African enologist Eben Sadie. Their first vintage was released in 2001, and two years later came the first edition of Arbossar, the boldest wine that they offer. It has always been a pure, terroir-driven wine, made without oak-ageing in order to fully express the special region of Priorat. Arbossar introduces itself with a blast of vibrant, crisp fruit. Flavours of raspberry and cranberry meet minerals and smoke with every sip. It courses with electric acidity, and grippy tannins make for a sinewy, wiry mouthfeel. It is a perfect representation of the rugged and often unforgiving Priorat landscape. Consider drinking this wine with a smokey beef stew, meatballs in a spicy sauce, or hearty vegetable dishes.
