Building on what you learned in Level 3, we'll continue to explore how chords are constructed and how to use this knowledge to enhance your playing. You’ll also learn how to arrange music for different parts of a group, making your playing more creative and dynamic.. What You’ll Learn:. Advanced chords like 6th and diminished.. An introduction to musical modes (like Ionian and Aeolian).. Applied music theory: Chord construction and how to use chord inversions.. How to start improvising and creating your own music.. Arranging music and playing in harmony with others.. Building more complex and expressive melodies.. Perfect For:. Intermediate players eager to explore new musical concepts and take their playing to new heights.. Rock, Pop, R&B, and Disco Classics at Your Fingertips. All techniques will be taught by looking at popular 60s/70s/80s/90s/00s Rock, Pop, Country, Disco and R&B songs. Think ABBA, Depeche Mode, Diana Ross, The Smiths, Prince, Taylor Swift, Blondie, The Cure, Tina Turner, Bowie, and 60s/70s Classics from The Shirelles to the Shangr-Las! Song requests are encouraged and will be explored whenever possible.. Confident Playing Technique. The course places a strong emphasis on developing a confident playing technique. As well as developing your technical ability, with a focus on timing, texture, rhythm and song, we aim to build your musical awareness as part of a group ensemble. We take into consideration the specific aspirations and needs of everyone in the group, and encourage singing and individual style.. In our Next Level classes we aim to expand on the basics and get you playing more confidently. We’ll take you beyond the simple stuff and start introducing techniques you never thought possible. With a hands-on practical approach we’ll look at new chords, chord construction, new scales, playing in new keys and performance tips and tricks.. Group Ensemble & Performance Technique. Play one or two part arrangements with Ukulele. Emphasis on musical awareness, group timing, texture, rhythm and song. Develop playing technique and encourage individual style within a group. Introduction to playing effectively and confidently in a live gigging environment. Strumming and Picking. Build strumming confidence with a strong focus on timbre, dynamics and 8-bar strum patterns.. Explore use of barre chords to achieve damping effects useful for achieving a more percussive.. More complex fingerpicking rolls and arpeggios and introduction to tremolo picking.. Melody & Scales. More intricate melody lines and melodies and simple lead riffs using scales.. An introduction to improvising using modes.. Develop fretboard map up to the 8th fret.. Increase grasp and dexterity of scales learned so far including C Major Scale up to the 8th fret and applied Major and Minor scales.. Music Theory. Further exploration of chord construction and scale application.. Get more familiar with The Circle of 5ths as a tool for understanding keys and chord progressions.. Introduction to Modes as a way of learning and memorising scale patterns,. Performance Technique. Our 'Just Can't Get Enough!' course culminates in a “Grand Finale” show where you’ll have the opportunity to show off your new playing skills to family and friends at a London music venue..
