Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded by Maria Luz Marin in 2000, Casa Marin is a Chilean family winery located in Lo Abarca, in the San Antonio Valley, a short distance from the ocean, in an area characterized by a cool climate. The production is mainly focused on 4 different Pinot Noirs, but the company also grows Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Sauvignon Gris. The Pinot Noir grapes for this wine come from the Litoral vineyard planted on limestone soils. Here, the proximity to the ocean ensures a cool, breezy climate that favors full aromatic and tannic maturation. After vinification, the wine rests for 16 months in used barrels. The wine displays a brilliant dark red color, with ruby highlights. Its aromatic profile is fresh and lively with notes of red berries, cranberry, and cherry followed by smoky hints. On the palate, it is fruity and juicy with a medium body and a well-defined and very balanced acid vein. The tannins are soft and the finish is long and reminiscent of red fruits. The great versatility of this wine allows it to create various culinary pairings: it goes well with both salmon and white meat. For a special food and wine match, try it with duck aiguillettes or pasta Amatriciana.
