Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in Slovakia, near the city of Bratislava, in the village of Devin, the Zlaty Roh winery has vineyards planted in 2016 with vines of GrĂ¼ner Veltliner, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The plants enjoy a strategic position above the confluence of the Danube and Moravia rivers, at an altitude of 200-300 m above sea level. Here the pedoclimatic conditions and the diversified soil with sandy-clayey stretches and granite fragments, and other areas with loess or clayey-calcareous soils, create the ideal situation for the production of excellent quality wines. The company is certified organic and has been operating in a biodynamic regime since 2017. The Zlaty Roh Merlot Cabernet has a medium ruby color with a purple edge. The nose reveals aromas of blackberry and black forest berries, damson, and black cherry, followed by notes of pine, graphite, and pepper. On the palate, it has a medium to full body with velvety tannins and a slightly peppery finish with a lively fresh note. It is a solid and very well-balanced wine that can be enjoyed now together with a barbecue, a pork knuckle, or a nice juicy steak, or it can be left in the cellar for a few years.
