Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in Panzano in Chianti, in the heart of the Conca d'oro del Chianti, the La Massa farm owns 27 hectares of vineyards. The estate was purchased in 1992 by Giampaolo Motta who can count on the help of his friend and oenologist Carlo Ferrini and Stéphane Derenouncour. Giorgio Primo is a Bordeaux blend with a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon with additions of Merlot and Petit Verdot. The grapes, coming from vineyards located on clayey and calcareous soils, rich in shale, are selected and harvested manually to guarantee a maximum level of quality. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and the wine then ages in oak barriques (80% of which are new) for 18 months. This excellent Supertuscan, produced under the IGT Toscana denomination, has a dense and deep color with dark red tones. Its aromatic profile is intense and complex, elegant and persistent, with aromas of dark fruit and spices, leather and tobacco notes. On the palate it is concentrated and powerful, with firm tannins and a streak of bright acidity. The finish is long and balanced. It is the ideal wine for game or braised red meat.
