Cellar for up to 10 years. Decant for up to an hour before serving. Martinet Bru is an equal blend of Grenache and Syrah, loaded with generous notes of blackberry, cassis, slate minerality, and toasted oak. It was harvested from a single vineyard known as Mas Torrent, owned by the estate and located on Priorat’s border with Montsant. Now widely considered as one of the best locations for red wine in Spain, the region of Priorat was decimated during the phylloxera plague of the 19th century. José Luís Pérez, the founder of Mas Martinet, played an important role in its revival during the 1980s, particularly in ushering in an age of top-quality wine. Now, Mas Martinet has been passed down to his daughter, Sara Pérez, a highly renowned oenologist and winemaker. Martinet Bru expands into an elegant, mineral-laden palate, with strong notes of black fruits, cinnamon, vanilla, and dried herbs. It has a generous character, with all the warmth of sun-baked Priorat stone. The tannins are velvety, lending an excellent structure to the wine, and come through on the long finish. The fruits were aged for 17 months in French oak before bottling. Consider pairing this wine with chorizo, a rack of lamb, or a rich risotto.
