Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded in 1902, Domaine Besson is an independent family business with four generations of history. Today their vineyards cover more than 21 hectares and the winery is managed by Alain Besson who took over the company in the 80s and his two sons, who continue the family tradition by producing high-quality wines in the Chablis wine region. The Chardonnay grapes are harvested manually from a vineyard of approximately 0.15 hectares in the Les Clos Grand Cru appellation located north-east of Chablis on the right bank of the small Le Serein river, at an altitude between 100 and 250 meters. After fermentation, the finished wine matures on the yeasts in stainless steel tanks for 18 months. The Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos from the Besson winery is a round and mineral wine with a broad and fruity aromatic profile. The nose reveals notes of white flowers, pineapple, apricot, peach, and citrus fruits followed by mineral hints. On the palate, it is soft and juicy, lean and characterful. It has a marked acidity and a pleasant mineral streak. The finish is long and refreshing. Perfect with a risotto with scallops, gratin dauphinois and veal escalopes.
