Cyprien Arlaud Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits 2021

Cellar for up to 10 years. Decanting is optional, up to 30 minutes before serving. This is a light and vibrant impression of Burgundy, both in colour and taste. On the nose, it is packed with scents of ripe raspberry, pomegranate seed, strawberry, and earth, with a clean hit of minerality lurking in the background. It was harvested from prime locations within the Cotes de Nuits, probably the best region for Pinot Noir in the world. Domaine Arlaud spans the Morey-Saint-Denis and Gevrey-Chambertin in the heart of Burgundy. It is a family estate, inherited by third generation vintner Cyprien Arlaud in 2013. With the help of a small team, he crafts stunningly pure Pinot Noir harvested from 15 hectares of vineyards, including 4 Grand Cru plots. Hautes Cotes de Nuits is wonderfully crisp and playful on the palate, with very subtle, finely-grained tannins and elevated acidity that brings a tactile mouthfeel. Flavours of cranberry and wild hedgerow fruits envelop the tongue, along with umami hints of forest floor and mushroom. On the finish, an array of baking spices shines through, leaving you wanting more. This is a well-rounded wine, perfect for pairing with roast chicken, mushroom risotto, or mature cheese.
