Domaine Huet Vouvray Le Haut Lieu Moelleux 2022

Cellar for upwards of 20 years. No need to decant before serving. Domaine Huet is one of Loire Valley’s legendary wineries, founded by father and son Victor and Gaston Huet. It has been a part of Vouvray’s landscape since 1928 and spans a total of 30 hectares in the appellation's verdant rolling hills. Vouvray is defined by the Chenin Blanc grape, and it is hard to find a purer expression of the grape and the terroir than the wines of Domaine Huet. This wine explores the sweeter side of the Le Haut Lieu vineyard and thanks to its plentiful residual sugar, it has the potential to age for a very long time. Le Haut Lieu Moelleux has a deceptively refreshing nose, exhibiting none of the honeyed elements that you can discover on the palate. It is a bouquet of white flowers and white-fleshed stone fruits, with hints of citrus and pineapple. On the palate, the wine’s sweet interior is complemented by a purposeful acidity and a fantastic vein of minerality. It is round and refined in equal parts. This is one of those rare bottles that truly deserves the moniker of “fine wine”. Consider savouring it alone, or pairing it with a simple, fruity dessert and fine cheese.
