Enjoy it now or cellar for a few more years. No need to decant before serving. From the northern tip of New Zealand’s South Island, this is a crisp Sauvignon Blanc with a crystal clear bouquet of grapefruit, passion fruit and fresh basil. It is a great representation of the country’s aromatic Sauvignon Blanc style, harvested from a rocky part of the Seifried family’s vineyards, where low soil nutrients create concentrated fruits. The Seifried story began in the 1970s when Austrian-born Hermann Seifried came to New Zealand to take up an apple wine-making job. He met his wife Agnes in the small city of Nelson and before long, they decided to pursue their shared dream of wine-making, purchasing land in the Moutere Valley. Now we can taste the fruits of their family’s labour - a critically acclaimed range of New Zealand wines. At the forefront of each sip, you can find a medley of sweet and tart citrus fruits. Passion fruit, lime zest, kiwi, lemon and apple all combine for a fruit-forward first impression. However, there are some deeper layers to Seifried wines - hints of dried herbs, snow peas, and a baseline of minerality lurk in the background. It is a brightly acidic wine, perfect for pairing with a wide variety of seafood, salads or creamy sauces.
