Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in Tomasov, in the Bratislava region of South East Slovakia, the Miro Fondrk winery was founded in 2008 and then expanded and modernized in 2015. The company produces a range of excellent value wines, but their specialties are red wines and those from the noble Slovak grape varieties Hron and Nitria. The Pinot Noir grapes come from the Rúbaň vineyard, located under a small hill, in the southern Slovak wine region. After a careful selection of the bunches and a manual harvest, the grapes are left to macerate at a low temperature for 3 days. The maceration is followed by fermentation in 1000-liter vats. The finished wine then rests on the lees for 18 months. This elegant Pinot Noir Private Reserve from the Miro Fondrk winery has a rich and broad aromatic profile with notes of ripe red fruits such as raspberry and strawberry, followed by aromatic herbs and balsamic hints. On the palate, it is fruity and juicy, round and concentrated, with a medium body and a lively acidity. The tannins are velvety and the finish is long and fruity. It is the perfect wine with duck, goose and other game birds.
